Our Eyes

There are a lot of places where Scripture talks about our eyes. They're very important. Jesus even talked about our eyeballs in the Sermon on the Mount. In this passage He tells us that our lives follow our eyes. What we look at is ultimately the direction of our hearts. 

In Matthew 6:22-23, Jesus asks us to think about where we're focusing.

Today's Truth

Have you ever felt like your time with God was a separate event from the rest of your day? I often feel like God shows me something in His Word, but then I pretty much forget about it while I live my life. We don't often do this on purpose, it just happens.

As we live our life, it can be easy for us to forget the bigger picture. This is why my wife Janie and I developed "Today's Truth." This simple notepad is a way to connect your time with God to the rest of your day.

Living by Something We Haven't Read

Everyone has experienced someone asking them the dreaded question, "What have you been reading in the Bible lately?" Whether it's a pastor, friend, or your parents, you don't really know what to say. Because you haven't been reading Scripture, you don't have a good answer. But you know you can't be honest and tell them that because you feel guilty. Also, you like the Bible. You quote the Bible. You try to live by the Bible. So it doesn't make sense, even to you, for you to say that you haven't been reading it. So many times we land right there: trying to live by something we haven't read.

Colliding Worlds

I grew up in a strange environment where I went to school and church on opposite sides of town. There were people that I hung out with who couldn't find my church on a map, and my church friends didn't know anyone at my school. I had two different worlds. And they didn't mix.
